Establishing a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) assembly plant in Malaysia is a crucial part of BYD’s global strategy. Localized production will help BYD reduce vehicle costs and enhance its competitiveness in the Southeast Asian market.

Local market data shows that BYD has been the sales champion in Malaysia’s pure electric vehicle market for three consecutive years. The BYD Seal is also the best-selling pure electric sedan in Malaysia in 2024.

Meanwhile, the newly launched Seal model is equipped with the Tianshen Eye C-Advanced Smart Driving Triple Camera Version (DiPilot 100) and the Smart Cockpit Advanced Edition-DiLink 100. It supports over 20 advanced smart driving assistance features, including high-speed navigation, lane change via turn signal, automatic parking, and valet parking, which is expected to further help BYD expand its local market share.

Data shows that BYD sold 344,000 vehicles in July 2025, including over 80,000 new energy vehicles exported. The construction of the Malaysia plant will serve as a significant springboard for BYD to expand its presence in the Southeast Asian market.
