SAIC-GM’s Buick Launches Electra L7, Priced from $23,820 for a Limited Time

The Electra L7 delivers 302 km of CLTC pure electric range, up to 1,420 km of combined range, and supports 130 kW fast charging.

Buick, a brand under SAIC-GM, officially launched the Electra L7 on September 28. The model comes in five trims, with a limited-time introductory price range of RMB 169,900–215,900 ($23,820–30,280).

On the exterior, the Electra L7 is built on the “Xiaoyao” super architecture and adopts Buick’s “Aquatic Aesthetic” design language. The vehicle features a fastback silhouette, hidden door handles, and frameless doors.

The car measures 5,032 x 1,952 x 1,500 mm, with a 3,000 mm wheelbase—dimensions close to a C-segment midsize luxury sedan. Six exterior colors are available: Obsidian Black, Moonshadow Grey, Cloudlight White, Sandstone Beige, Nebula Purple, and Crystal Amethyst.

The cabin is a key highlight of the configuration. The L7 is the first model to feature the Qualcomm SA8775P intelligent cockpit chip, delivering 72 TOPS of computing power. It supports Apple CarPlay, Huawei HiCar, and CarLink smartphone connectivity.

The front row features a dual-screen setup plus an AR-HUD, while the rear seats come with a touch control panel, along with leg rests, massage, heating, and ventilation functions.

The vehicle is equipped with four full-function floating-layer seats, with the rear seats designed in a “cloud-like” suspension style. The front passenger seat debuts the first joint-venture twin 120° zero-gravity setup, featuring a 103 mm extendable four-way electric leg rest and a one-touch nap mode.

On the chassis side, the Electra L7 adopts a front double-wishbone and rear five-link suspension layout, with a six-ball-joint design in the rear. Its RTD continuously variable damping system adjusts in milliseconds to actively control body posture.

In terms of intelligent driving, all trims feature the “Xiaoyao Intelligent Drive” system and debut the Momenta R6 flywheel AI model, supporting City NOA, smart parking, and autonomous ETC lane passage.

Power is delivered via the “Zhenlong” range-extended hybrid system, which combines a 1.5T engine designed for hybrids, a rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor, and Ultium 2.0 high-performance hybrid batteries. The motor outputs 252 kW, with combined fuel consumption as low as 0.5L per 100 km. The vehicle accelerates from 0–100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds on a full charge.

For range, the Electra L7 delivers 302 km of pure electric CLTC range and up to 1,420 km of combined range. It also supports 130 kW fast charging, enabling a 30%–80% charge in just 18 minutes.

Notably, SAIC-GM Deputy General Manager Xue Haitao stated on social media today that early order intake for the Electra L7 has been “very strong,” with the top-spec Avenir trim accounting for over half of all bookings so far.
