Li Auto’s i6 Sees 200% Spike in Store Traffic Within 48 Hours of Launch

Within 48 hours of launch, most Li Auto stores recorded 80–90 new confirmed orders for the i6, with lock-in rates reaching 75%–80%.

Li Auto officially launched the i6 on September 26 at a price of RMB 249,800 ($35,040), with deliveries beginning on September 27.

According to data from the “Li Auto i6 48-Hour Frontline Sales Report,” most individual stores reported 80–90 new confirmed orders, with a lock-in rate of 75%–80%. Foot traffic to stores jumped by roughly 200% compared to the previous period, with the increase most evident in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities.

Only a single configuration was launched, reducing decision time for buyers. Display and test-drive units arrived at stores two days in advance, with each location typically offering 2–4 test vehicles. Weekend test drives hit a record high, accelerating order conversions.

Stores in eastern regions performed particularly well, with staff noting that “customers placed orders right after walking in” more frequently than with previous models.

Early customer demographics are concentrated in the 22–35 age group, with men accounting for around 65%, though the female share is higher than for Li Auto’s previous core models. Many buyers are young couples purchasing for family and everyday use, citing the i6’s balance of size and interior space.

The model’s brand ambassador has also helped attract new customer segments, with multiple locations reporting fans visiting showrooms and placing orders. Existing owners have amplified interest via social groups and social media; many buyers have some link to current L-series owners.

In terms of configuration choices, rear-wheel-drive versions account for around 70% of orders, with all-wheel drive at roughly 30%.

Pearl White is the most popular exterior color, while white and gray-brown dominate interior preferences. The entertainment screen has an option take rate of about 40%, and 21-inch wheels are chosen roughly 30% of the time.

Store feedback indicates that acceptance of the i6’s design exceeds that of the i8. Evaluations of chassis performance and ride comfort frequently cite that it is “sufficient” and “better in quality than expected,” with test drives significantly boosting conversion rates.

Option bundling has also shaped selection trends, with overlapping choices among features like audio systems, AWD, and large wheels.

In competitive comparisons, the Tesla Model Y and Xiaomi YU7 are currently the most frequently mentioned alternatives. Sales staff report that Model Y shoppers have a similar age profile but place more emphasis on space, comfort, and overall configuration completeness.

Those considering the Xiaomi YU7 are often constrained by production and delivery timelines. Many placed orders for the i6 immediately after test drives. A smaller number of customers previously waiting on the i8 opted for fully equipped i6 versions, and some existing owners locked in preorders ahead of their replacement cycle.

According to recent production plans at Li Auto’s Changzhou plant, output allocated for the i6 this year is expected to reach 45,000–50,000 units, with monthly capacity rising to 25,000 units by December.

The planned production ramp signals Li Auto’s strong expectations for market demand. As capacity scales up, the i6 is positioned to become a key growth driver for the company’s pure electric portfolio.
