NIO NWM2.0 will be rolled out to users on the Banyan platform by the end of this year, with users on the Cedar and Cedar S platforms scheduled to receive the update in Q1 next year.
On November 3rd, Niu Meimei, a member of NIO’s intelligent driving team, posted an update on Weibo sharing the latest progress in the product development of NIO’s intelligent driving team.
Niu Meimei revealed that NIO World Model (NWM) version 2.0 is currently in preparation and is expected to be pushed to users on the Banyan platform within the year, with the specific timing dependent on the filing process. Additionally, users on the Cedar and Cedar S platforms will receive the update within Q1 of next year.

Besides disclosing the rollout timeline for NWM version 2.0, Niu Meimei also previewed the functional optimizations in the new NWM version:
- NWM’s performance in Navigate on Pilot (NOP) for highways and urban areas has improved. NWM is undergoing an architectural upgrade to further enhance its long-sequence prediction capabilities, yielding benefits in scenario handling through model reinforcement learning.
- In the new version, Navigate to Battery Swap functionality will be activated for over 90% of battery swap stations nationwide.
- The point-to-point, full-scenario Navigate on Pilot experience will become more direct, easier to operate, available across a wider range, and overall more user-friendly.
- The autonomous pathfinding function in parking lots will achieve open interaction through an open-set intelligent engine. In the new version, the system will accept free-form expressions, understand ambiguous semantics, comprehend open-ended instructions, and perform multi-modal environmental understanding, allowing NWM to execute tasks accurately.

Furthermore, Ledao’s end-to-end intelligent driving assistance system (OSD) will receive a major upgrade in the Coconut 2.1.0 version. Based on NIO’s unified intelligent driving technology architecture, it will upgrade Urban Navigate on Pilot and parking assistance to an end-to-end technical architecture.
Official data shows that previously, the Coconut 1.2.0 update for Ledao OSD in May delivered end-to-end Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB). To date, AEB has helped users avoid 200,071 potential collisions.

At the end of May 2025, NIO fully delivered the Banyan 3.2.0 version. As the first mass-production version of NIO World Model (NWM), the system showed significant experiential improvements in Navigate on Pilot for driving, parking assistance, and active safety features.
In the first version of NWM, NIO delivered the industry’s first mass-produced autonomous pathfinding function in parking lots, which has now successfully completed over 430,000 autonomous parking lot pathfinding tasks.
According to Ren Shaoqing, a core leader of NIO’s intelligent driving R&D, NIO recently adjusted its intelligent driving organizational structure using a “4×100 relay” model. This divides the R&D process into four stages—pre-research, mass production, platform replication, and model replication—handed off like a relay. This integrates the intelligent driving organization with the general artificial intelligence organization, aiming to facilitate the rapid introduction and iteration of new technologies.
