XPeng G9L Global Debut Set for Aug. 11, Pre-Sales Open in Tandem

XPeng Motors announced on Aug. 10 that the global debut and pre-sale launch event for the XPeng G9L will take place at 7 p.m. on Aug. 11 in Guangzhou.

According to XPeng CEO He Xiaopeng, the G9L is a global model developed for launch across 64 countries and regions.

The vehicle was designed to meet five-star safety standards across multiple international markets.

The G9L has previously been spotted undergoing overseas road testing in cities including Munich, Germany, and Bangkok, Thailand.

XPeng said development of the G9L project began three years ago, with road tests covering 26 countries and regions and accumulating more than 6.74 million km of validation mileage.

Based on regulatory filings, the G9L can be viewed as a larger five-seat version of the GX.

The new model measures 5,120 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width and 1,782 mm in height, with additional height variants of 1,788 mm and 1,795 mm available. The wheelbase reaches 3,100 mm.

The vehicle will be offered in both battery-electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions.

The BEV variant will feature two battery options with capacities of 91.9 kWh and 110 kWh, delivering CLTC-rated ranges from 672 km to 805 km.

The EREV version will adopt XPeng’s Kunpeng Super Range Extender system, featuring a 63.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack across the lineup and a 110 kW 1.5T range extender.

ChinaEV Home was invited last Wednesday to photograph the production version of the XPeng G9L.

Although G9L belongs to the G9 family, its design language has shifted significantly toward the GX, with limited resemblance to the current G9.

With its larger dimensions, interior space has become one of the model’s key selling points.

The second row has been optimized for family-oriented use cases and is expected to become one of the vehicle’s major market focuses.

The second row features an electrically adjustable center armrest to improve cabin comfort, although its deployment speed is slightly slower compared with a manually folding design.

XPeng has not yet disclosed the official pricing of the G9L. Based on its product positioning, the new model is expected to sit between the G9 and GX, potentially covering a wider customer base.

Given XPeng’s recent strategy of improving market competitiveness through pricing adjustments, the entry-level G9L variant could be priced below some versions of the current G9.

For reference, the current G9 lineup includes three variants — Max, Ultra SE and Ultra — with prices starting from RMB 248,800 ($36,870).
