- Geely will likely build the Galaxy Cruiser 700 at Ford’s Valencia plant under a new JV, reflecting a push to localize production and cut export and supply‑chain costs for Europe.
- The Galaxy Cruiser 700 is a midsize-to-large off-road EV offered in six variants with pre-sale prices RMB 199,800 (about $29,730) to RMB 389,800 (about $58,000), and VW‑style demand hit 43,900 orders in one hour.
- The model will compete with mainstream European SUVs and Ford‑badged JV products, but execution risks include meeting a 2028 start, scaling Valencia capacity, regulatory approvals, and margin pressure from localization.
Geely’s Galaxy Cruiser 700 could be produced on the assembly line at Ford’s Valencia plant in Spain for the European market, according to Automotive News.
The model is expected to carry different badging when launched in Europe and is known internally by the code KO11.

The plan is linked to a joint venture being developed by Geely and Ford in Spain.
The two companies signed a joint venture agreement in July 2026, and the deal cleared China’s antitrust review in September.
Ford will hold a 66% stake in the joint venture, with Geely owning the remaining 34%. The company plans to use Ford’s Valencia plant to produce models from Geely’s portfolio.
Products already confirmed include a multi-energy crossover jointly developed by the two companies and designed primarily by Ford, as well as Geely’s existing EX5 electric SUV.
The two companies have also previously disclosed plans to add another SUV at the plant, with production scheduled to start in 2028.
Based on the information disclosed so far, that model is believed to be the Galaxy Cruiser 700.

Geely Holding Group CEO Andy An previously confirmed that the JV plant is planned to have annual capacity of 500,000 vehicles, with production expected to begin in 2028.
For Geely, establishing local production in Europe could reduce trade costs and supply-chain distances associated with exporting complete vehicles from China, while allowing the company to respond more closely to local market demand.
The Galaxy Cruiser 700 opened for pre-orders in China yesterday, positioned as a midsize-to-large new-energy off-road SUV.
The model is offered in six variants with pre-sale prices ranging from RMB 199,800 ($29,730) to RMB 389,800 ($58,000).
As the Galaxy brand’s first rugged, boxy SUV, the model features a large body and follows the new-energy off-road vehicle product strategy.

The model drew more than 10,000 orders within nine minutes of pre-sales opening and reached 43,900 orders after one hour.
Spain is not Geely’s only base for expanding local manufacturing in Europe.
Under current plans, Volvo’s European plants will also begin producing some premium models from Geely’s portfolio from 2028.
The manufacturing push comes as Geely’s overseas sales continue to grow rapidly.
From January through August 2026, Geely Auto’s overseas sales reached 691,000 vehicles, up 170% year on year.
In August alone, Geely exported 110,094 vehicles, up 205% year on year and 3% from July, extending its streak of year-on-year and month-on-month growth to eight consecutive months.
Geely previously raised its 2026 overseas sales target from 640,000 vehicles to 920,000 and is now targeting the 1 million mark.
