- BYD appears to be positioning the next-generation Seagull to carry Megawatt Flash-Charging and second-generation Blade Battery, signaling a push to bring high-speed charging downmarket amid intense price competition.
- Regulatory filings show dimensions of 4,205mm long, 1,810mm wide, 1,570mm tall, 2,650mm wheelbase, a 95kW motor, and 29.99kWh/39.23kWh LFP packs with CLTC ranges of 320km and 420km.
- The Seagull will compete below the Dolphin and against sub‑RMB 100K rivals while risks include potential price creep narrowing model differentiation, supply and scaling of Megawatt chargers, and cannibalization of BYD’s own lineup.
A series of images showing the next-generation BYD Seagull during an advertising shoot has recently surfaced on social media. The photos show the vehicle being prepared for official marketing materials, revealing both its exterior design and charging scenes.
The most notable detail from the shoot is the appearance of a BYD Megawatt Flash-Charger.

Although BYD has yet to officially confirm the feature, the filming setup suggests that the all-new Seagull will likely be promoted alongside BYD’s Megawatt Flash-Charging technology.
If the configuration is eventually introduced, the model would become BYD’s most affordable vehicle equipped with the second-generation Blade Battery and Megawatt Flash-Charging.
For comparison, the current 2026 Seagull is priced between RMB 69.9K and RMB 85.9K ($10.4K–$12.8K), while BYD’s cheapest Megawatt Flash-Charging models currently include the Qin MAX EV and Seal 06 EV, both starting at around RMB 110K ($16.4K).
Beyond fast charging, the leaked images also reveal that the new Seagull will feature a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor.
This would allow the model to remain BYD’s most affordable vehicle equipped with the “God’s Eye B” intelligent driving system, keeping it among the few sub-RMB 100K ($14.9K) vehicles in China offering urban driver-assistance capabilities.

The all-new Seagull will also receive upgrades in dimensions and powertrain performance.
According to regulatory filings submitted to MIIT, the new model measures 4,205mm in length, 1,810mm in width and 1,570mm in height, with a 2,650mm wheelbase. All dimensions have increased compared with the current version, signaling a shift from an A00-class city commuter toward a more practical entry-level family EV.
Inside, the new Seagull adopts BYD’s latest interior design language, featuring a two-spoke steering wheel, a larger floating central display and improved storage solutions.
The electric powertrain has also been upgraded. The vehicle will use a permanent-magnet synchronous motor with a maximum output of 95kW, a significant increase from the current model’s 55kW motor. Battery options will include 29.99kWh and 39.23kWh lithium iron phosphate packs, delivering CLTC ranges of 320km and 420km, respectively.
The current Seagull remains an important model in BYD’s lineup. Data shows that the model recorded 10,103 sales in August.

However, competition for BYD’s entry-level EV lineup is no longer limited to rival brands.
As the next-generation Seagull gains larger dimensions, more advanced intelligent features and upgraded electric components, whether its pricing will move upward has become a key market question. A higher price could narrow the positioning gap between the Seagull and the Dolphin.
The Dolphin continues to maintain stable sales momentum, with 16,829 units sold in August 2026, making an immediate phase-out unlikely. How BYD balances the market positioning of the two models will become a key focus after the new Seagull enters the market.
