Today, the Data Talks NEV WeChat public account released the weekly sales rankings for new energy passenger vehicles covering the period of May 26th to June 1st.
The data shows that as May ended, automakers employed various short-term promotional tactics to boost immediate demand, driving an overall upward trend in market performance.

Overall, BYD dominated the weekly ranking with sales of 59,800 units, a 12.2% increase WoW, demonstrating an overwhelming lead in both volume and growth rate. This surge is attributed to BYD’s “limited-time subsidies” promotion launched last week. While the overall market saw growth, BYD’s closest competitor, Wuling, saw its weekly sales dip from 11,700 units to 10,900 units, likely impacted by BYD’s aggressive promotions.
Tesla achieved weekly sales of 13,000 units this week, securing the top spot among pure-electric brands.
Among the NEVs, Li Auto retained its lead with sales of 10,500 units, a 14.29% WoW increase. AITO sales reached 10,200 units, marking its first weekly sales exceeding 10,000 units in May, with the AITO M8 contributing 5,320 deliveries, exceeding expectations. Xiaomi Auto’s SU7 recorded sales of approximately 7,800 units, nearing its 2025 weekly peak (Week 13: 7,830 units).

Following closely was XPeng with weekly sales of 7,300 units. According to leaks from 车Fans, XPeng received over 20,000 new orders last week, driven by a surge in showroom orders for its new MONA M03 Max model, averaging 30-35 new firm orders per store.
More detailed data shared by @万万_ECC shows NIO Group sold 5,441 units last week. Breakdown: NIO brand: 3,035 units (ET5/ET5T combined: 2,730 units; ET9: 190 units, stabilizing at ~800/month); ONVO L60: 1,403 units, stabilizing around 6,000/month; firefly was a pleasant surprise, exceeding 1,000 units for the first time last week. In its first full month (May), it delivered 3,680 units, nearly matching MINI and Smart’s combined April sales.
As we enter the final month of Q2 2025, market competition is set to intensify further. We will continue to monitor the data changes next week.
