The Denza B5 (formerly Formula Leopard 5) is expected to officially enter the UK market in 2026.
At the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed, which opens on July 10, BYD’s Formula Leopard 5 will make its overseas debut under a new name—Denza B5, marking a key step in its global expansion.
The Denza B5 (Formula Leopard 5) is expected to officially enter the UK market in 2026. In overseas markets, it will fall under the Denza brand lineup, forming a luxury product matrix alongside models such as the Denza D9 and Z9GT. This strategy has already been piloted in Australia—spy shots from earlier this year showed camouflaged vehicles on the streets of Melbourne carrying the “Denza B5” badge, indicating that the model will launch under the Denza brand in Australia in Q3.
Official pricing for the UK market has not yet been announced. For reference, the Denza B5 (Formula Leopard 5) is priced in China from 239,800 to 329,800 yuan ($33,500–46,200).

The Denza B5 (Formula Leopard 5) is built on BYD’s Dual Off-road (DMO) Super Hybrid Platform and equipped with the DiSus-P hydraulic body control system. Its body dimensions are 4,890 × 1,970 × 1,920 mm (including the external spare tire). While the overseas version’s interior and powertrain specs have yet to be disclosed, they are expected to be close to the Chinese version, featuring a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine paired with dual electric motors, forming a plug-in hybrid system with a maximum output of 677 hp.
In June, Formula Leopard’s total monthly sales reached 18,903 units, up 605.3% year-on-year, setting a new record. Among them, the Formula Leopard 5 sold 4,875 units, an 81.9% year-on-year increase. Formula Leopard General Manager Xiong Tianbo previously stated that the brand’s models will leverage BYD’s overseas sales channels to expand into global markets.

This renaming is a key step in BYD’s globalization strategy. Starting with Goodwood, Denza plans to introduce at least six models, including the B5, B8, and Z9GT, to the Australian market in Q3. In the UK, the Denza B5 will compete directly against established players like the Land Rover Defender, aiming to challenge the dominance of traditional European off-road vehicles.
