Leapmotor B01 Hits Over 10,000 Orders in 72 Hours—Nearly Half from Female Buyers

  • More than 70% of customers chose the 650 km range model.
  • Young urban consumers dominate: 80% come from Tier-1 or emerging Tier-1 cities, 72% are under 35, and 48% are women.

On July 27, Chinese EV maker Leapmotor announced that its newly launched compact all-electric sedan, the B01, secured over 10,132 locked-in orders within just 72 hours of its market debut, marking it as a rising contender in the intelligent EV segment.

Officially launched on July 24, the Leapmotor B01 is priced between RMB 89,800 and RMB 119,800 (approx. $12,400–$16,500) and comes in three CLTC-rated range configurations: 430 km, 550 km, and 650 km. The top-tier 650 km variant is equipped with a seven-in-one oil-cooled electric drive unit and accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 6.4 seconds. Paired with CTC 2.0 Plus battery-chassis integration technology, Leapmotor claims its real-world range performance exceeds the industry average by 15%.

Marketed with the tagline “Half the price of a Li Auto,” the B01 is aimed squarely at younger consumers, entering direct competition with rivals such as Xpeng’s MONA M03 (starting from RMB 99,800 / $13,700) and the BYD Qin Plus EV (from RMB 109,800 / $15,000). Notably, the B01’s top-spec lidar-equipped trim is priced to compete with mid-tier configurations of rival models, offering a strong value proposition.

At the same time as it crossed the 10,000-unit milestone, Leapmotor revealed detailed user profiles for early adopters of the B01.

More than 70% of orders were for the 650 km version, underscoring strong consumer demand for extended driving range. The buyer profile also skews notably younger, with 72% of customers under the age of 35, and 80% of orders coming from Tier-1 and emerging Tier-1 cities. Significantly, 48% of B01 buyers are women, a noteworthy figure that challenges traditional gender dynamics in EV purchasing.

In a post-launch interview, Leapmotor Vice President Cao Li emphasized the brand’s inclusive design approach:

“From the outset, B01 was developed with a focus on universal appeal, particularly in terms of color options, cabin design, and intelligent interaction—features that align closely with the tastes and needs of female users.”

When it comes to product appeal, the data speaks volumes:

  • 88% of buyers cited the 650 km range as the key factor.
  • 72% were drawn by the end-to-end assisted driving system powered by lidar and the Qualcomm 8650 chip.
  • 68% chose the B01 for its intelligent cockpit built on the Qualcomm 8295 platform.

These figures highlight that technology and intelligent features are decisive factors in consumer choice.

According to the latest delivery data, Leapmotor delivered a total of 221,664 vehicles in the first half of 2025, making it the top performer among China’s new EV startups. Since March, monthly deliveries have exceeded 30,000 units for four consecutive months, with June setting a new record at 48,006 units. The B01’s early momentum is expected to play a key role in helping Leapmotor push toward the 50,000-unit monthly delivery mark.
