New Xpeng P7 Debuts with Ice & Snow AES

The new P7 underwent low-adhesion tests on wetted glazed tile surfaces, with an adhesion coefficient of only 0.3.

The operational speed range of the Ice & Snow AES system is 80–130 km/h, and it can handle high, medium, and low-adhesion road conditions.

On August 21st, XPeng Motors officially announced that the new XPeng P7 will be the first in the world to feature an Ice & Snow AES (Automatic Emergency Steering).

The company stated that this will be the industry’s only AES function capable of performing emergency steering avoidance on low-adhesion road surfaces.

This technology is specifically designed for slippery and icy/snowy road conditions. It enables automatic emergency steering and avoidance under these hazardous circumstances, effectively preventing dangerous situations such as inadequate braking or excessive steering.

In August, the new XPeng P7 underwent low-adhesion tests at a professional proving ground in Suzhou. The tests were conducted on wetted, glazed tile surfaces with an adhesion coefficient of only 0.3.

It is reported that the operational speed range of the Ice & Snow AES system is 80-130 km/h, and it can cover high, medium, and low-adhesion road conditions. This means the system can provide effective emergency avoidance assistance whether on dry asphalt, wet rainy roads, or low-friction surfaces covered in ice and snow.

XPeng emphasized that this function is primarily intended to address common hazardous winter driving scenarios.

The new XPeng P7 officially debuted and began pre-sales on August 6th. Official data shows that within just 6 minutes and 37 seconds of pre-sales opening, reservations exceeded 10,000 units.

The new vehicle offers three range versions: an 820km ultra-long range version, a 750km high-performance version, and a 702km long-range version. The entire series comes standard with an 800V architecture and 5C battery. The high-performance version can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds, and charging from 10% to 80% takes a minimum of under 12 minutes.

Regarding intelligent driving hardware, the new XPeng P7 is equipped across the entire series with three self-developed Turing AI chips, delivering a total effective computing power of 2250 TOPS.

According to the plan, the new car will be officially launched next week. He Xiaopeng stated that with the start of deliveries for the new P7, XPeng aims to achieve a monthly delivery volume exceeding 40,000 units starting from September this year.
