On September 16, Li Auto announced that its new five-seat all-electric SUV, the Li Auto i6, will officially launch on September 26.

Positioned within this bracket, the i6 will go head-to-head with established electric SUVs such as the XPeng G9, Tesla Model Y, and IM Motors LS6.
Marketed as a “new-form five-seat SUV,” the i6 adopts an integrated shark-inspired silhouette and a dual-tone body design, while continuing the design language of the flagship Li Auto i8. Its vertical cabin length exceeds 3.3 meters, offering a compact exterior but spacious interior.
According to filings with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and official company disclosures, the i6 measures 4950/1935/1655 mm, with a 3,000 mm wheelbase (compared to the i8’s 3,050 mm).
On September 7, Li Auto’s head of product line, Li Xinyang, posted official photos of the i6 on social media. The model closely resembles a smaller version of the i8, featuring a star-ring daytime running light below the windshield and roof-mounted lidar.
Compared to the i8, the i6 has a sportier profile, with a more aggressive roofline beyond the C-pillar and a steeper rear window angle.
For energy and range, the i6 comes equipped with next-generation 5C lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs supplied by CATL and Sunwoda, with a capacity of 87.3 kWh on an 800V high-voltage platform.
The model delivers up to 720 km of range with energy consumption as low as 13.4 kWh per 100 km. It is rated to add 500 km of range with just 10 minutes of charging.
As of September, Li Auto has built more than 3,200 supercharging stations across 263 cities, with plans to expand beyond 4,000 stations by year-end.
Powertrain options include a smart rear-wheel-drive single-motor version (250 kW) and an intelligent dual-motor all-wheel-drive version (150 kW + 250 kW). The i6 also offers 20-inch and 21-inch wheel options to meet different user preferences.
Earlier this month, Li Auto CEO Li Xiang said the company aims to stabilize i6 monthly sales at 9,000–10,000 units in 2025. Combined with the MEGA and i8, the target for the three-model pure EV lineup is 18,000–20,000 units per month.
However, Li Auto continues to face headwinds in the all-electric segment. In August, the company delivered 28,529 vehicles, down 40.72% year-on-year. Cumulative sales from January to August reached 263,198 units, representing an 8.64% decline.
Among its EV models, the i8 has underperformed, with offerings reduced from three configurations to a single variant. Against this backdrop, the market reception of the i6 will be critical in determining whether Li Auto can establish a stable sales foundation in the pure electric segment.
