XPeng’s humanoid robot IRON has officially entered small-batch trial production at its Guangzhou factory, with mass production lines moving into final testing and integration. The move marks the final countdown toward volume production.
Earlier, XPeng held an internal mobilization meeting for robot mass production, setting key milestones: humanoid robots are expected to enter mass production in 2026, followed by deployment across XPeng stores and commercial scenarios worldwide from 2027. The robots will initially take on roles such as customer reception, vehicle introductions and other service tasks.

IRON first made its public debut at XPeng’s AI Day event in November 2025, drawing attention with its smooth, human-like walking movements. Some viewers even speculated that a human operator might be hidden inside the robot.
XPeng CEO He Xiaopeng later demonstrated the internal structure on site, showing that the robot was fully driven by mechanical systems.
At the launch event of the MONA L03, He Xiaopeng said XPeng’s robot business had entered its eighth year of development, with eight generations of products built so far. The company started with quadruped robots before gradually shifting its focus toward humanoid robots.
He Xiaopeng summarized three core advantages of XPeng’s humanoid robots.
First, the robots feature human-like body structures, allowing them to integrate more naturally into human environments compared with traditional robots.

Second, XPeng is applying automotive-grade safety standards and large-scale manufacturing capabilities. The company aims to leverage its experience in EV supply chains, manufacturing systems and safety standards to accelerate robot production.
Third, the robots are powered by AI capabilities. Based on self-developed chips and AI models, they can independently perform environmental perception, task understanding and motion execution, rather than relying on remote control.
From a technical perspective, IRON is equipped with three XPeng-developed Turing AI chips, delivering a combined computing power of 2,250 TOPS. The robot also connects with XPeng’s second-generation VLA large model. By combining chips, AI models and hardware systems, IRON can achieve environmental understanding, task execution and human-machine interaction.

For commercialization, XPeng is not directly targeting the home market at the initial stage. Instead, it has chosen commercial scenarios as the first deployment path.
He Xiaopeng believes robots will eventually enter households, but commercial environments offer a more practical starting point. By deploying robots in locations such as XPeng stores, the company can collect real-world data, continuously improve intelligence capabilities, then gradually expand into industrial production and home service scenarios.
