- MG launches MG 07 PHEV with 30 kWh CATL LFP battery and 245 km CLTC electric range.
- PHEV pairs 1.5L hybrid engine with 152 kW motor for up to 1,745 km combined range.
- Price expected below EV’s RMB125.9K base, targeting direct competition with BYD Seal 06.
SAIC MG has officially listed the plug-in hybrid version of the MG 07 on its official website, expanding the sedan’s powertrain lineup ahead of its market launch.
The MG 07 PHEV will be offered in two variants: Hybrid 245 Comfort Edition and Hybrid 245 LiDAR Edition. Pricing has not yet been disclosed. Both versions are scheduled to officially launch at the Chengdu Auto Show on Aug. 21, when SAIC MG will announce final prices.
Previously, the all-electric MG 07 opened pre-sales with five variants, priced between RMB 125.9K ($18.7K) and RMB 165.9K ($24.6K).
The MG 07 PHEV keeps a similar exterior footprint to the EV version. The vehicle measures 4,886 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width and 1,478 mm in height, with a 2,858 mm wheelbase.
In terms of cabin, intelligent driving and chassis technology, the PHEV version largely mirrors the pure-electric model. The sedan features Momenta R7 ADAS, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P cockpit chip, mCDC intelligent electromagnetic suspension and other comfort-focused technologies.
The major differences between the two powertrains come from the hybrid system, battery pack and front trunk design.
The MG 07 PHEV adopts a 1.5L hybrid-specific engine paired with a 152 kW electric motor. It is equipped with a 30 kWh CATL lithium iron phosphate battery pack, delivering a CLTC pure-electric range of 245 km. The model offers a combined driving range of up to 1,745 km.
SAIC MG said the MG 07 PHEV achieves fuel consumption as low as 3.98 L/100 km under depleted battery conditions, approaching the efficiency level of BYD’s DM-i hybrid system.
Due to the addition of the engine, fuel tank and related components, the PHEV version removes the front trunk. It also no longer offers the optional 19-inch Star Ring Gravity wheels.
Based on the MG 07 EV’s RMB 125.9K ($18.7K) starting pre-sale price, the PHEV version is expected to launch below the entry price of the pure-electric model. The lower pricing could put the MG 07 PHEV in direct competition with the BYD Seal 06, which is scheduled to launch tomorrow.
MG previously said the MG 07 EV secured more than 21K orders within 20 hours after opening pre-sales. With the addition of the plug-in hybrid variant, MG expects the expanded lineup to further boost market demand.
