Pony.ai Q2 Robotaxi Revenue Surges 691%, Eyes 4,000-Plus Units Abroad

On Aug. 18, autonomous driving company Pony.ai released unaudited financial results for the second quarter and first half of 2026, ended June 30.

Pony.ai generated RMB 246 million ($36.2 million) in revenue in the second quarter, up 68.8% year over year, with its Robotaxi and Robotruck businesses continuing to provide the main sources of incremental growth.

Robotaxi revenue reached RMB 81.92 million ($12.1 million), up 691.2% YoY and 40.9% sequentially, setting a quarterly record and accounting for about one-third of total revenue.

Passenger fare revenue rose 849.3% YoY during the quarter, also representing the strongest quarterly growth on record.

In terms of fleet deployment, Pony.ai has entered the phase of regular operations with its seventh-generation Robotaxi.

The seventh-generation vehicles based on models from BAIC, GAC and Toyota have all entered daily service.

As of June 30, Pony.ai’s self-operated and jointly operated Robotaxi fleet had reached 1,975 vehicles.

The company plans to expand the fleet to more than 3,500 vehicles by the end of this year.

As Robotaxi revenue accelerates, Pony.ai is also shifting more of its focus toward overseas markets. Its total overseas Robotaxi deployment plans now exceed 4,000 vehicles.

Its strategic partnership with Uber has entered the implementation phase, with more than 2,000 Robotaxis scheduled to be deployed in five major European cities in phases.

Pony.ai’s Robotaxi operations now span nine countries, with passenger services already operating in China, Croatia, Qatar, Singapore and South Korea.

The company has also partnered with European mobility platform Bolt and Stellantis to launch Robotaxi testing in Luxembourg.

The Robotruck business also continued to grow. Second-quarter revenue reached RMB 90.44 million ($13.3 million), up 40.0% YoY.

This is primarily driven by an expansion in freight transportation services under its partnership with Sinotrans.

On profitability, Pony.ai posted gross profit of RMB 43.1 million ($6.4 million) in the second quarter, up 83.4% YoY, with a gross margin of 17.5%.

Pony.ai has significantly accelerated the pace of business expansion this year.

On Aug. 10, the company announced that its autonomous driving vehicles had surpassed 100 million km in cumulative mileage globally.

As of Aug. 16, the number of registered users on its China-region app had exceeded 1.5 million.
