NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang: “I Would Love to Buy a Xiaomi Car”

Jensen Huang expressed his interest in buying a Xiaomi car, highlighting his confidence in China’s electric vehicle market and the promising prospects of chip collaboration.

On July 16, at the opening of the 3rd China International Supply Chain Expo, NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang told the media, “I would love to buy a Xiaomi car.” This remark has once again drawn widespread attention to Xiaomi EVs.

Notably, just days earlier, Huang met with Xiaomi founder Lei Jun in Beijing. The two were even photographed together next to the Xiaomi YU7, displaying a friendly and familiar rapport.

During the expo, Huang expressed his long-standing confidence in Lei Jun and praised Xiaomi’s transformation from smartphones and smart hardware to electric vehicles as “nothing short of a miracle.” He said, “From the very first day I met Lei Jun, I knew he was destined to accomplish great things.”

Huang’s interest in Xiaomi’s EVs is understandable given the extensive collaboration between NVIDIA and Xiaomi in the smart automotive field: the Xiaomi SU7 is equipped with NVIDIA’s Orin chip, while the recently launched YU7 features the more powerful Thor chip.

His public expression of interest appears to be as much a strategic alliance as a personal endorsement for Xiaomi.

As a relative newcomer in the new energy vehicle sector, Xiaomi has performed impressively. Since the launch of the SU7 series, monthly deliveries have consistently exceeded 20,000 units. The recently unveiled mid-to-large SUV YU7 secured over 200,000 pre-orders within just three minutes of opening pre-sales in late June.

At the opening ceremony of the Expo, Huang delivered a speech in Chinese, calling China’s supply chain “a miracle” and praising the country’s capabilities in computer science and software development as “world-class.” He remarked that over the past five years, the rise of China’s electric vehicle industry may be “one of the most remarkable technological achievements in the world.”
